Arizona State Budget Cuts and the Impacts

So I don’t usually talk too much about cuts in the recent budgets with USA and the states, including my home state of Arizona. Something was just approved that drives me crazy and is close to me….If you go to Arizona State Budget Cut Impact Specifics you will see a list. Here’s a quick rundown from what I’m aware of. Respite services to elderly has almost been eliminated for the time being. Child Protective Services is being cut drastically and will only respond to a child if the danger is immediate, so if someone had something happen to them and the danger is not present immediately, there will be no on-site response. How ridiculous is this???!!! Also individuals with developmental disabilities…their services will be cut 10% across the board. Specifically $10,576,400 out of around $100,000,000. I just saw a new addition too while writing this…Eliminate services for 850 infants and toddlers with or at risk of a developmental delay. Very ridiculous. This affects families, providers and the pay/services both depend on to get by day to day. I can only imagine the impact of this. If you are affected directly please contact Arizona Legislators locally and statewide and our Governor Jan Brewer to let her know a story about why this is so important to you, your family, your friends. This could be horrible for our society to just ignore a population that needs these services. I can’t believe what I’m hearing and seeing lately.
